Overview


The Thai Network Information Center Foundation believes that IXP capacity building will help promote the core competencies of human resources, thereby driving the growth of the Internet in the region. The BKNIX Fellowship Program aims to provide an opportunity for network engineers and security or network officers from Southeast Asia to expand their IXP networks and knowledge by attending the BKNIX Peering Forum and its side-event workshops. While the fellowship aims to offer financial assistance to both new and experienced applicants, the program is limited by the availability of resources. Selection by the BKNIX Fellowship Committee will strictly follow a point-based merit system, as outlined in the section below.

Eligibility

Individuals actively involved in Internet development in their own countries in any of the following capacities:

  • Network engineering and network design
  • Network operations and Network Operation Centre 
  • Security and network design
  • Educators and  trainers

Selection Criteria

  • Applicants must come from ISPs, IXPs, or interconnection service providers and have a proven record of sharing knowledge and experience with colleagues and peers.                                           
  • Proven Internet community involvement in a technical or operational capacity.
  • Women are especially encouraged to apply.

Fellowship Award Package

The successful fellow will receive the following support:

  • A privilege to attend BPF
  • Registration fee for  the side-event workshops (BGP Deployment Operations Workshop or BGP Peering & IXP Workshop)
  • Accommodation will be arranged at a decent hotel near the venue.
  • A contribution towards airfare and per diem

Term and Conditions

Contributions toward air travel and per diem will be reimbursed within three (3) days after the THNIC Foundation has received the original receipt and a copy of the airfare ticket from the Fellow.

Fellows will be accommodated in a prepaid single room (inclusive of breakfast). Any incidental costs incurred are the responsibility of the Fellow. The THNIC Foundation shall not be liable for any additional expenses incurred by the Fellows. No cash advances will be provided.

Successful Fellows must accept or decline the fellowship offer by responding to the email notification from the BKNIX Fellowship Committee in accordance with the specified schedule. It is therefore the applicant’s responsibility to provide a valid and active email address and to regularly monitor their email communications. Deadlines are non-negotiable. Failure to respond by the stated deadline will be considered a waiver of the fellowship. The BKNIX Fellowship Committee reserves the right to revoke a fellowship offer, with or without cause. Written notice will be sent via the email address provided.

The BKNIX Fellowship is a privilege; therefore, Fellows are expected to participate actively and contribute to the fullest extent of their capacity throughout the forum and workshops. Submission of an application implies that the applicant understands and agrees to accept the terms and conditions set forth herein.

BKNIX Peering Forum 2026

The Thai Network Information Center (THNIC) Foundation, in collaboration with BKNIX Co., Ltd., will host the BKNIX Peering Forum & ThaiNOG Day 2026 (BPF2026), taking place on 25 – 26 May 2026 

BPF Participants

The event will bring together managers, engineers, and business decision makers from both local and international ISPs, IXPs, CDNs, IDCs, Cloud, and Interconnection Service Providers for two days of meetings, presentations, and networking events. This event will provide great opportunities for those who make peering and interconnection decisions for their network.
