Prof. Pennung Warnitchai, is professor and chair of Structural Engineering program at Asian Institute of Technology and Founding Director of Earthquake Research Center of Thailand (EARTH)
He received his doctorate degree from University of Tokyo, Japan on 1990 and have joined Structural Engineering program at AIT since 1992. He is supervising master and doctoral students and conducting research studies in the areas of structural dynamics, bridge engineering, earthquake engineering, and wind effects on structures.

Thein Myint Khine is founder and CEO of Myanmar Internet Exchange (MMIX) and also led MMNOG 2020 event as a Chairperson. Khine is an Industrial Advisor and she has over 20 years of professional experience in IT field. She joined the field in 1994 since after she achieved Bachelor Degree in Electronic Engineering. As of November 2000, she earned the IT Professional Certificates of Microsoft & Cisco. In 2013, she achieved CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert). Based on more than 15 Years’ Experience in Internet Service Providers Environment, Khine could coordinate Industrial friends and set up the first Myanmar Internet Exchange.

Dr. Amreesh Phokeer is an Internet Measurement and Data Expert at the Internet Society. His broad areas of research are in computer networking, security, and telecommunication policy, with an emphasis on Internet measurements. Currently, he is focused on efforts around designing new tools and techniques to study the global health of the Internet including Internet resilience, routing security issues, Internet shutdowns, and other market trends that impact the growth of the Internet.

In Thailand, ETIX has formed in 2022 a Joint-Venture with Interlink Telecom to operate ETIX Bangkok #1, a 4 MW carrier neutral and sustainable data center.

Philip Smith

Philip Smith has been working in the Internet industry since the early 1990s after catching the Internet bug in the mid 1980s while at University. He runs his own consulting company, PFS Internet Development.
Philip spends some of his time working for the Network Startup Resource Centre as a Senior Network Engineer and Training Coordinator, assisting with Network Operations Groups coordination, and providing network design assistance and training around the Pacific, South and South East Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

Owen Conway
NSRC
Owen Conway has worked in the internet industry in various roles and organizations since the mid-1990s. Starting as a network engineer for an ISP in the UK, in the mid-2000s he started working at LINX, firstly as a Senior Network Engineer and then as the Network Architect. Since moving to the USA, Owen has worked in Cloud Compute Networking and national broadband organizations, and most recently worked as a Network Architect for NRTC which works to improve fiber broadband deployments to underserved/rural communities across America. Owen currently serves on the board of PhillyIX as Director of Technology and Architecture. Throughout his career, Owen has always been an advocate of using the RouteViews service for operational enrichment and as a way to educate others on how BGP works.

Kams Yeung

Kams Yeung is a Senior Network Architect at Akamai Technologies, the world’s largest CDN. Kams has responsibilities primarily covering peering, routed interconnections and capacity planning. Kams is a 20-year veteran of the Internet industry and an international network engineering, operations and data center professional. He has served as an infrastructure team member during APRICOT-APAN 2011. Before Akamai, Kams was Product Manager at Equinix, and Senior Manager, IP Engineering at Pacnet. He is a regular supporter of APRICOT, APNIC, APF, and other industry community gatherings.

Walt Wollny
Director Interconnection Strategy, Hurricane Electric
Walt Wollny is the Director of Interconnection Strategy at Hurricane Electric, supporting the company’s global network reach across over 56 countries and more than 320 Internet Exchanges. He focuses on global connectivity and expanding into new markets.
With over 27 years of experience in the Internet industry, Walt previously worked as an IP Business Development Manager at Amazon. During his tenure, he supported the deployment of over 64 new CDN builds, including in markets such as Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, India, Taiwan, the Philippines, and Australia.

Vivian specialises in Southeast Asia market research in the DC Byte Singapore team. She cultivates relationships with data centre operators, conducts on-the-ground market inspection and has attended major ground-breaking ceremonies, visited key industrial sites and over 50 data centre facilities across Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and The Philippines.
As the regional data centre industry experiences accelerated growth, Vivian has been responsible for client briefings and delivered research reports to international data centre operators and investment funds looking at the emerging markets.
Before DC Byte, Vivian had experience in site-suitability analysis in the supply chain industry. Vivian holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and China Studies from the National University of Singapore, and is effectively bilingual in Mandarin and English. She is also certified in DCPro Data Centre Design Awareness. Her favourite hobby is photojournalism and she also volunteers with an ASEAN-China focused youth community in her free time.

Data centers are undergoing a transformation driven by the push for standardization and the shift away from proprietary solutions. This effort seeks to eliminate vendor lock-in, enhance interoperability, and foster innovation across the industry.
By reviewing emerging technologies, this talk emphasizes how standardization enhances scalability, reduces costs, and ensures a more sustainable and adaptable data center ecosystem.
