His CCIE # 16656 He received his Ph.D. degree from the LAAS CNRS, followed by a two years PostDoc at the University of Tokyo. His thesis is about open Source OpenFlow SDN for IXPs. He designed and deployed the first European OpenFlow IXP fabric for the TouIX.
Was a senior researcher at Internet Initiative Japan Lab for many years, and a member of the Japan French Lab in Informatics.

Philip Smith

Philip Smith has been working in the Internet industry since the early 1990s after catching the Internet bug in the mid 1980s while at University. He runs his own consulting company, PFS Internet Development.
Philip spends some of his time working for the Network Startup Resource Centre as a Senior Network Engineer and Training Coordinator, assisting with Network Operations Groups coordination, and providing network design assistance and training around the Pacific, South and South East Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

Aftab Siddiqui
Head of Stakeholder Relations APNIC Foundation
Aftab Siddiqui joined the Foundation in October of 2024. Based in Sydney, Aftab brings extensive experience in technical and business operations roles in the Internet service provider industry. He has an intimate knowledge of the Internet community, and has worked closely across technical communities, government agencies, civil society, and the private sector across the Asia Pacific. With a deep commitment to advancing the Internet ecosystem, he has worked on critical issues such as technology and infrastructure development, technical and non-technical stakeholder engagement, and policy advocacy.
As head of Stakeholder Relations, Aftab leads initiatives to strengthen the Foundation’s engagement with diverse stakeholders, including the technology industry, academia, project partners, and development organizations. He also drives fundraising strategies, supports technology development and research, and contributes to key organizational initiatives to further the Foundation’s mission and expand its impact across the region.

Networks for AI - Future-State Architectures
The growing use of AI is increasing traffic and altering traffic patterns on telecommunications networks. End-user customers are also increasingly concerned about data privacy and security as threats rise exponentially. In this presentation, we will discuss the impact AI has on networks and how networks can be optimized to support AI workloads. We will also describe how CSPs can monetize and leverage their network assets by introducing a new class of premium connectivity services that meet the stringent bandwidth, ultra-low latency, data-sovereignty, and robust security requirements of business-, mission-, and life-critical AI applications.
Paresh Khatri
CTO and Chief Architect for the IP Networks Division Nokia
Paresh Khatri is the CTO and Chief Architect for the IP Networks Division for Nokia Corporation in APAC. In this role, Paresh is responsible for formulating platform and architecture strategies to meet the varied demands of operators in the Asia-Pacific region. He has been responsible for architectural design for the largest IP transformation projects in the region, and is now working closely with service providers as they address the growing demand for scale and new services that will be enabled by the evolution to 5G/6G, AI workloads and the metaverse.
Paresh’s areas of expertise include the entire range of IP/MPLS technologies and applications, from the network core to the access network. His current areas of interest include 5G transport, coherent routing, network slicing, segment routing and other SDN technologies.
Paresh has more than 27 years of experience with both service providers and vendors in building carrier-grade IP/MPLS networks.
Paresh is a regular speaker at industry conferences in the APAC region and also actively participates in a number of telecommunications industry standards bodies.
Paresh holds a Bachelors of Electronic Systems Engineering (First Class Honours) and a Bachelor of Information Technology from the Queensland University of Technology.

Routing at Scale: Challenges in Indonesia's Multi-IXP Ecosystem
Indonesia’s Internet ecosystem has rapidly evolved from a limited number of Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) into a highly distributed multi-IXP environment. While this growth improves interconnection, it also introduces new operational and routing challenges.
This presentation explores real-world issues observed in such environments, including increasing BGP session complexity, limited visibility across networks, and inconsistencies in operational practices. These factors can contribute to suboptimal path selection, where traffic does not always follow the most efficient route, even within local networks.
The session also outlines practical approaches to improve routing efficiency, including structured policy design, enhanced observability, and better coordination between networks. Ultimately, it highlights that scaling routing in a multi-IXP ecosystem requires not only technical improvements, but also stronger collaboration across the network community.
